The Al Maktoum Foundation

A foundation that embodies the giving-back culture of the UAE, the Al Maktoum Foundation is the backbone of the Al Bedaya initiative.

Our partners from the get-go, the Al Maktoum Foundation is behind numerous schools in the African region, extending from Senegal, Sudan to South Africa, which provides free education to children who would never have seen the inside of a classroom had it not been for their efforts.

It is because of the Al Maktoum Foundation that we are launching our initiative in an all-girls' high school in the Kajiado province of Kenya. It is also because of the Al Maktoum Foundation that we are given the opportunity to experience first-hand the impact they have in Kenya, and the impact we hope to have in Kajiado.

From its inception in 1997, the Foundation has schools in almost 40 African countries that provide an entity that has the potential to alleviate pain and develop an entire nation; education. Al Bedaya follows this approach and aims to provide a global touch to education.

The Beginning

Here we begin.

Our first ever post.

So where exactly do we begin?

This initiative was never meant to be an easy one. There wasn't a set of guidelines that we could simply follow, but we're all following our guts on this particular project. I mean, aiming to provide social media as a form of self-education to secondary school girls in Kajiado, Kenya, is no small feat. This is where this blog comes into the picture, to serve as our platform of documenting every single step of the way.

Keep watching this space.
